  1. I want to say I rode the Rocket Rods twice before they “closed for refurbishment”. The first time was on May 23, 1998- which was on the first date I had with my wife. I asked her to go to Disneyland with me, and thought we should wait until the first Saturday after the “New Tomorrowland” opened. That way “half the park wouldn’t be closed”. We waited in a tremendous line through the pre-show building(which when you are on a first date with a young lady you have a much higher tolerance for) and the ride kept breaking down bringing the line to a grinding halt. That was not so bad in the circlevision parts of the line but was actually pretty unpleasant in the tunnels to the Peoplemover platform. The ride was mildly amusing but I have fond memories of it and have never been able to be completely objective about it because I always associate it with one of the best days of my life. The second time I just went without my wife and the ride was much more unimpressive. This was in the early days of retro and full on Disney nostalgia was not as popular as it later became which made the theming of the line more engaging than the ride!
